For more than three decades, AZ Los Angeles has defined high-end audio production in Los Angeles. Today, that tradition continues through professional studio sessions and remote collaboration anywhere.
Our remote workflow is powered by MicTap™ a platform of web applications designed for real-time collaboration in modern production and post-production. These tools allow talent, producers, and clients to work together from anywhere without compromising audio quality or perfect sync to picture.
Whether you join us on-site or connect remotely, every session is seamless, efficient, and production-ready.
Remote recording without compromiseWherever you are, our technology ensures you never compromise on audio quality. We deliver crystal-clear sound in real time, so remote sessions feel seamless. And when a voice actor is working outside the studio, our software records their performance locally in full resolution, automatically uploading files to our servers for final production—while everyone follows the same high-quality picture in perfect sync, keeping performance and direction aligned.

1985 We opened our first recording studio in Lima, Perú, specifically in Dad's garage. It doesn't get any more boutique than that.19901990Establishing our presence in Los Angeles, California, as AZ Los Angeles, we became the first audio post-production house dedicated to serving the vibrant Hispanic market. Our studio was situated in Ontario, CA.1985 19911991Relocated to Hollywood, initially setting up on Cole Avenue and then, two years later, moved to Seward Street.1990 19951995First to bring non-linear digital recording to Perú, marking a significant milestone for the industry.1990 19961996We ventured into our new studios on trendy Melrose Ave, where we pioneered the transfer of full-resolution audio files via X-Modem using the Opera browser. This was necessary because we needed to exchange recordings between LA and Perú. At the time, transferring a file in two hours felt like a breakthrough—despite the fragility of the process.See how it evolvedremove_red_eye1995Late 96Late 96Embraced Z-Modem technology to transmit large high-resolution files over ISDN by dividing them into smaller fragments, requiring recipients to reassemble the pieces on their end. However, this process demanded advanced end-user technology and incurred substantial costs.1996 19971997Our overnight delivery service to East Coast clients was also expensive—to the tune of $5,000/week, requiring weekly cross-country flights to deliver work.Late 96 April 97Apr 97At the NAB Show convention floor, we were captivated by an emerging technology known as MPEG-1. Of particular significance was MPEG Layer 3, commonly referred to as MP3.1997 Nov 97Nov 97Stopped catching red-eye flights from LAX to JFK and introduced the market to this beauty: EVA (Encoded Video and Audio), our development that incorporated MPEG-1 and MPEG Layer 3. This unique file exchange system, akin to what is now called an extranet, positioned us as the first sound studio to offer such a service.Meet EVAremove_red_eyeApril 971998See how it evolvedremove_red_eye1998We inaugurated a larger facility on La Brea Avenue, enabling us to accommodate our expanding operations. A year later, in 1999, we witnessed the birth of Napster, which rapidly popularized the MP3 format, thereby revolutionizing the music industry.Nov 9720032003In 2003, we designed and built our studios on 12th Street in Santa Monica, at the heart of a vibrant creative community. A space created to inspire, where work and play came together in a gallery-like environment. Today, that spirit extends beyond a single location.Where it all came togetherremove_red_eye199820182018Launched MicTap, an app-based booking service and facility in Burbank, CA. This groundbreaking platform facilitated global connectivity between voice actors and studios, offering ISDN calls, Source-Connect, and phone patch, all at a budget-friendly price.2003 20262026After decades of pushing against the limits of distance, we built our own solution. MicTap™ brings studio-grade collaboration into a fully remote environment—designed from the ground up for the way production works today.2018Discover MicTap remove_red_eyeHow we played it forwardWhat began with two brothers in Lima, Perú grew into a decades-long pursuit of better ways to create, move, and deliver sound. From building studios to pioneering early file transfers, from ISDN to custom systems, each step was driven by the same idea: remove distance from the creative process. Today, that pursuit continues in its most complete form.
See the story Hear every dimensionApproaching the level of immersion often associated with virtual environments, we design and produce cinematic audio experiences for audiobooks, narrative content, and radio and TV commercials. We combine traditional sound craft with modern spatial techniques to create depth, movement, and perspective that translate naturally across all playback formats.
Your content remains fully compatible with stereo delivery for radio and TV, while offering an elevated, more immersive experience for listeners on headphones and spatial audio systems—enhancing clarity, engagement, and storytelling.
This is where the work speaksA selection of radio and television pieces shaped through original music composed to picture, sound design, and mix. Crafted to carry story, emotion, and detail. While created for traditional formats, these pieces reflect the same principles we now bring to immersive audio storytelling.RADIO COMMERCIALS
