AZ Los Angeles is back in the studio

We’ve returned to our Los Angeles facility, where voice actors and clients can once again collaborate in person on recording, sound design, and mixing for digital content, radio, and TV.

At the same time, we’ve added state-of-the-art remote services—developed by our own team—that make it possible for talent, producers, and guests to participate from anywhere, without compromising broadcast-quality audio or perfectly synchronized visuals.

Whether you join us on site or connect remotely, our team ensures every session is seamless, efficient, and cost-effective.

Remote recording without
compromising audio quality
Whether you join us in person or connect from anywhere, our technology ensures you never compromise on audio quality. We broadcast crystal-clear sound at twice the fidelity of the good ol' ISDN in real-time, so remote sessions feel seamless. And when a voice actor is working from outside the studio, our software records their performance locally in full resolution, automatically uploading the files to our servers for final production.

Our video plays in HD, at full motion,
with no skipping frames, and in sync...

1985 We opened our first recording studio in Lima, Perú, specifically in Dad's garage.
It doesn't get any more boutique than that.
1990
1990 Establishing our presence in Los Angeles, California, as AZ Los Angeles, we became the first audio post-production house
dedicated to serving the vibrant Hispanic market. Our studio was situated in Ontario, CA.

1991 Relocated to Hollywood, initially setting up on Cole Avenue and then, two years later, moved to Seward Street. 1990
1995
1995 First to bring non-linear digital recording to Perú, marking a significant milestone for the industry. 1990
1996
1996 We ventured into our new studios on trendy Melrose Ave, where we pioneered the transfer of full-resolution audio files via
X-Modem using the browser Opera. This was necessary because we needed to exchange recordings between LA and Perú.
File transfer time was a mere two hours. And one more thing: the entire transfer was lost if the session timed out.

Late 96 Embraced Z-Modem technology to transmit large high-resolution files over ISDN by dividing them into smaller fragments, requiring recipients
to reassemble the pieces on their end. However, this process demanded advanced end-user technology and incurred substantial costs.
1996
1997
1997 Our overnight delivery service to East Coast clients was also expensive—to the tune of $5,000/week,
required a commercial aircraft, and yes, eating airplane food.
Late 96
April 97
Apr 97 At the NAB Show convention floor, we were captivated by an emerging technology known as MPEG-1.
Of particular significance was MPEG Layer 3, commonly referred to as MP3.
1997
Nov 97
Nov 97 Stopped catching red-eye flights from LAX to JFK and introduced the market to this beauty: EVA (Encoded Video and Audio),
our development that incorporated MPEG-1 and MPEG Layer 3. This unique file exchange system, akin to what is now called
an extranet, positioned us as the first sound studio to offer such a service.

See our former studios remove_red_eye 1998 We inaugurated a larger facility on La Brea Avenue, enabling us to accommodate our expanding operations.
A year later, in 1999, we witnessed the birth of Napster, which rapidly popularized the MP3 format, thereby revolutionizing the music industry.
Nov 97 2003
2003 We embarked on the design and construction of our latest cutting-edge studios on 12th Street in Santa Monica.
Our vision was to provide comfortable spaces that stimulate creators' imaginations, blending work and play,
along with hotel-like hospitality, including an art gallery.

2020 Driven by the rise of remote work, we ventured into developing software tuned into our industry under the MicTap brand.
These innovative Real-Time Communication apps facilitate seamless remote collaboration.

How we played it forward What began with two brothers in Lima, Perú has expanded to Los Angeles, California, as we built and managed multiple recording studios, mentoring
and training talented sound engineers. Now, we embark on what we believe is next. The tipping point for brick-and-mortar studios is behind us, and we
are excited to embrace this new era of creativity and innovation.

From noises to dialogue Our sound design and mix work involves a wide range of audio elements, including dialogue, sound effects, original music, and ambient noise.
